Apprenticeships remain high on all Government agendas and provide a recognised entry route into the land-based and environmental sector. ?

However there is a particularly low take-up of apprentices within the sectors in which Lantra works which needs addressing.?One solution may be an Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA). ?

These agencies work to attract, select and place apprentices and are set up to advise, support and guide businesses, apprentices, and training providers through the Apprenticeship process.??

Views from industry are crucial to help us respond to the needs of businesses within the land-based and environmental sector. ?This survey will identify opportunities to help businesses access and benefit from Apprenticeships. ?These will enable Lantra to create a tailored solution that suits industry needs.?

Lantra Apprenticeship Manager Jo-Anne Bryan says: ?Lantra has identified a number of barriers that businesses face in relation to taking on apprentices. ?These include finding and recruiting appropriate learners. ?As well as employers worrying about providing the range of experience required for the Apprenticeship within their business.?

?Lantra has already been working with industry informally to look at some of these obstructions and have decided to carry out a feasibility study into setting up an ATA. ?We need feedback from employers to help us determine the way forward.??

Lantra?s online survey should take less than 15 minutes to complete. ?Survey answers will be completely confidential and held in accordance with the Data Protection Act.?

Help Lantra address your industry apprenticeship requirements by responding to our survey.?

Lantra is the Sector Skills Council for land-based and environmental industries, working to ensure these businesses access the training, qualifications, skills and knowledge they need.
